What the hub does

The ESTONE DS14IN1 is a 14-in-1 USB-C docking station that adds video, wired networking, audio, card readers and multiple USB ports to laptops with a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 port. It supports MacBook Pro and Air models from 2016 to 2020, plus a wide range of Windows ultrabooks and Chromebooks. The ten-inch tethered cable lets the hub sit under the laptop on either side.

Thermals noise and power

The aluminium body passively dissipates heat from the 87 W Power Delivery pass-through and the Gigabit Ethernet controller during sustained file transfers. No fan is present, so operation stays silent in quiet rooms. The hub draws its own operating power from the host port and reserves the PD input solely for charging the connected notebook.

Accessories and software impact

The package includes only the dock itself; no drivers or configuration utilities are required because every function uses standard operating-system protocols. Both SD and MicroSD slots work simultaneously for direct photo ingest, while the 3.5 mm jack adds analogue headset support that many modern laptops omit. The two USB-C data ports and three USB 3.0 Type-A ports all share a 5 Gbps upstream link.

Questions about this item

How do I install the ESTONE DS14IN1 and which step do people often miss?

Plug the 10-inch USB-C cable into a Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C port that supports video and PD; the step often missed is confirming the host port carries DisplayPort Alt Mode and 87 W charging, otherwise the 4K HDMI and power pass-through will not work.

What maintenance or replacement will the ESTONE DS14IN1 need later?

No internal parts are user-serviceable; keep the RJ45 and USB-A ports free of dust, avoid bending the fixed 10-inch cable sharply, and replace the whole unit if the PD controller or video bridges fail.

What limit appears first under sustained use of the ESTONE DS14IN1?

The 87 W PD input caps total downstream power; driving 4K HDMI at 30 Hz, Gigabit Ethernet and multiple 5 Gbps USB devices simultaneously can hit that thermal and current ceiling before individual port bandwidth saturates.
