Power delivery

This USB-A to USB-C cable delivers up to 120W of power with a 6A current rating and built-in E-Marker chip. It supports Power Delivery, QC, AFC and FCP protocols for fast charging of laptops, tablets and phones. The 1m blue nylon-braided cable also carries USB 2.0 data at 480Mbps.

USB 2.0 data limit

The single specification that decides suitability is the 480Mbps USB 2.0 data rate. It transfers a 1GB file in roughly 30 seconds but does not support USB 3.0, USB 4.0 or Thunderbolt speeds, and it cannot carry video output.

Charging-focused builds

The cable frees up a high-wattage USB-A charger for 100W laptop charging and 80% phone top-ups in 30 minutes. It needs a USB-A power source that supports the listed fast-charge protocols and a USB-C device that accepts them. It is not for users who require video-out, 5Gbps or 10Gbps data, or Thunderbolt docking.

Questions about this item

What does the 120 W rating mean when I plug this cable into my laptop?

The cable can deliver up to 120 W, so a compatible 2022 MacBook Pro can reach 90–100 % charge in about 1.5 hours and hit 80 % in roughly 30 minutes.

Which USB standard does the cable use and what speed does that limit me to?

It uses USB 2.0, capping data transfer at 480 Mbps, and does not support video output or USB 3.0/4.0 speeds.

What physical connector and length do I need to check before buying?

The cable has a USB-A plug on one end, a USB-C plug on the other, and is 1 m (3.3 ft) long with an aluminium-alloy shell and nylon braid.
