Connects Mini DisplayPort sources to DisplayPort displays with 80 Gbps bandwidth for 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz or 4K at 240 Hz
This 6.6 ft cable links a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 source to a full-size DisplayPort 2.1 display or works the other way round. Gold-plated male connectors and a braided PVC jacket protect the copper conductors. It carries 80 Gbps bandwidth and supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, HDCP 2.2 and 10-bit colour. Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports on MacBook models are also compatible.
Replacing a DisplayPort 1.4 or 1.2 link adds the headroom for 8K at 120 Hz or 4K at 240 Hz without compression. The jump is worth it when the monitor and GPU both implement DisplayPort 2.1 and the workload demands refresh rates above 144 Hz at 4K. Legacy 32.4 Gbps cables will still pass 4K at 144 Hz but cannot reach the higher tiers.
The link tops out at 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz. It comfortably handles 5K at 60 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz for high-refresh gaming. Bandwidth runs out beyond 16K60, so multi-monitor 8K arrays or future 16K120 panels would need a different interconnect. Audio formats including Dolby Atmos pass through the same cable.

Other versions of this model
The cable is 6.6 ft long with male Mini DisplayPort 2.1 on one end and male DisplayPort 2.1 on the other, both gold-plated for corrosion resistance.
Connect the Mini DP end to a Thunderbolt 1 or 2 port on a MacBook or to a Mini DP output on a laptop, and the full-size DP end to a monitor; the cable works either way but the Mini DP monitor port must support video output for reverse use.
Gold-plated connectors resist oxidation and the cotton-braided PVC jacket is water-resistant, so no routine replacement is needed under normal indoor use.
