What this capture device does

The ESTONE OZC2 captures HDMI video at up to 1080p 60fps and sends it to a computer or smartphone over USB 3.0. It accepts an input signal up to 4K at 30fps and requires no driver installation or external power supply. Streamers, teachers and broadcasters can connect a DSLR, camcorder or game console directly to OBS, VLC or Amcap on Windows, Mac or Linux.

USB 3.0 bandwidth and cable limits

The USB 3.0 interface caps the captured output at 1080p 60fps even though the HDMI input can carry 4K 30fps. Video is delivered in YUV or JPEG format with L-PCM audio. The supplied AWG26 HDMI cable supports runs up to 15 metres at 1080p and below, so longer 4K cables may not work reliably.

The output resolution that defines the part

Maximum captured output is 1080p at 60fps, so the device cannot record or stream in 4K. Buyers who need 4K60 capture should look elsewhere. The OZC2 is intended for workflows where 1080p60 is the final delivery format.
