Versatile 8K bidirectional switch

The ESTONE OZQ8AB3 is an HDMI 2.1 bidirectional switch that operates as a 2-in-1-out selector or a 1-in-2-out splitter. It connects two source devices to one display or routes one source between two screens, with only one output active at a time. Manual switching is handled via the front button or the included infrared remote control. No software or external power supply is required for basic operation.

Passive aluminium chassis stays cool

The unit uses a fanless aluminium enclosure measuring 5.91 x 2.36 x 0.79 inches and weighing 11.9 ounces. Because it draws power from the connected HDMI sources through the supplied USB-C cable, it adds negligible heat and produces no audible noise during normal viewing or gaming sessions. Signal integrity is maintained for 8K at 1.5 metres, 4K at 3 metres and 1080p at 8 metres.

Stable sustained throughput for gaming

Under continuous load the switch maintains 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz or 120 Hz, and 1080p at 240 Hz without frame drops, provided every cable and device in the chain supports the target mode. HDCP 2.3 and VRR pass-through remain active during extended sessions. The device cannot drive both outputs simultaneously, so dual-monitor extended desktop configurations are not supported.

Questions about this item

How do I install the ESTONE OZQ8AB3 and which step do people skip?

Connect each HDMI cable to the correct port — two inputs and one output for switch mode, or one input and two outputs for splitter mode — then plug the USB-C power cable in; the step people skip is powering the unit before switching.

What maintenance or replacement will the switch need later?

The mechanical selector button and IR remote are the only moving parts; if the button sticks or the remote loses range, replace the remote battery first, then consider a new switch if the button fails.

What limit appears first during sustained 8K@60Hz use?

The 1.5 metre cable-length limit for 8K resolution; longer cables will drop the signal before the switch itself overheats or throttles.
