Bidirectional HDMI 2.1 switch

The ESTONE OZQ8AB3 is a manual bidirectional HDMI 2.1 switch that works as a 2-in-1-out switcher or a 1-in-2-out splitter. It connects two source devices to one display or one source to two displays, though both outputs cannot show content simultaneously. A push button and an included remote control select the active path without unplugging cables.

Replacing manual cable swapping

This unit removes the need to physically swap HDMI leads when moving between a console, Blu-ray player or laptop. The jump is worthwhile when a display has only one HDMI 2.1 input but multiple 8K or high-refresh sources need access, or when a single source must feed two screens in turn. It does not automate switching, so users who want hands-free source detection will not be served.

Cable-length limits at each resolution

HDMI 2.1 bandwidth of 48 Gbps is supported, but cable reach drops sharply with resolution. Certified cables must stay within 1.5 metres for 8K at 60 Hz, 3 metres for 4K at 120 Hz or 144 Hz, and 8 metres for 1080P at 240 Hz. Exceeding these distances will break the link even if every device supports the target mode.
