1.6ft USB4 cable with 40Gbps bandwidth

This 1.6ft USB4 cable connects USB-C devices at up to 40Gbps. It supports Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 hosts. The braided jacket protects the conductors during daily use. It is built for users who need maximum throughput in a short reach.

Practical limits of USB4 Gen 3x2

The cable delivers 40Gbps only when both ports implement USB4 Gen 3x2. Ports limited to Gen 2 restrict bandwidth to 20Gbps. Video output reaches 8K at 60Hz or dual 4K at 60Hz. Power delivery tops out at 240W with a PD 3.1 source.

Capacity and headroom for charging and data

At 240W (48V/5A) the cable handles any current USB-C laptop or accessory. It can move 14 hours of HD video or 25000 photos in one minute at peak speed. Devices with slower ports will not reach these rates.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 1.6ft length or a longer cable for my desk setup?

The 1.6ft length keeps a tidy desk and maintains full 40Gbps bandwidth and 240W power delivery without signal loss. Longer cables can introduce resistance that limits charging speed or data rate.

What does the 40Gbps figure mean when I copy files between my laptop and an external SSD?

At 40Gbps you can move roughly 14 hours of HD video or 25000 photos in about one minute, provided both host and drive support USB4 Gen 3x2. On a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port the same cable tops out at 20Gbps.

Does the Thunderbolt 3 and 4 compatibility cap video or data performance?

The cable carries the full Thunderbolt 3 and 4 signalling rate, so single 8K at 60Hz or dual 4K at 60Hz works without compression. Bandwidth remains 40Gbps for data and 240W for charging when the host and device both support it.
