This active USB 3.0 extension cable reaches 50 feet using built-in signal booster chips to maintain full SuperSpeed performance. It connects a USB 3.0 Type A male plug to a Type A female port. A supplied 5 V/2 A power adapter is included for devices that draw more than 900 mA.

Capacity and headroom

The cable supports up to 5 Gbps data transfer, roughly ten times the 480 Mbps ceiling of USB 2.0, so large file backups and high-definition video streams move quickly. Signal booster chips prevent attenuation across the full 50-foot run, keeping throughput stable where passive cables would fail.

Practical limits of the USB 3.0 interface

USB 3.0 signalling is rated for 5 Gbps, but real-world throughput depends on the host controller, the peripheral and cable quality. The 22 AWG tinned copper conductors and foil-plus-braid shielding reduce EMI and RFI, yet total bus power remains capped at 900 mA unless the external adapter is used. Devices needing more current or longer runs than 100 feet will require a different interconnect approach.
