Three-Pack USB 3.0 Extension Cables

This pack contains three USB 3.0 Type A male-to-female extension cables, each 6.6 feet long and coloured black. They extend the reach between a computer, laptop, tablet or Mac and USB peripherals such as hard drives, flash drives, printers, scanners, cameras, mice, keyboards and VR headsets. The cables are rated for SuperSpeed USB 3.0 data transfer up to 5 Gbps and are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices. No driver installation is required for plug-and-play operation.

Suits Desktop and Living-Room Setups

These extensions are ideal for users who need to bridge a gap between a host port and a peripheral without moving the host — for example, routing a cable behind a TV, under a desk or across a meeting-room table. They also help protect the original device port from repeated plugging and unplugging. Buyers who require a USB-C, Micro-B or Mini-B connector, or who need a cable longer than 6.6 feet for a single run, should look at a different product.

5 Gbps SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Rating

The decisive specification is the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 rating of 5 Gbps, which determines whether the cable can sustain the throughput demanded by external SSDs, high-resolution webcams or VR sensors. If the connected device only operates at USB 2.0 speeds the cable will still work, but the extra bandwidth will not be used. Confirm that the host port and peripheral both support USB 3.0 to gain the full 5 Gbps performance.

Questions about this item

Does the 5 Gbps USB 3.0 rating hold up over the full 6.6 ft length?

The cable is rated for SuperSpeed USB 3.0 up to 5 Gbps across its 6.6 ft span, matching the USB 3.0 specification for this distance.

Will the cable or connectors get warm if I leave a portable SSD plugged in all day?

Passive copper USB 3.0 extension cables carry only data and bus power, so they run at ambient temperature during continuous use with typical peripherals.

My device has a USB-A port — is that the only connector I need on the host side?

Yes, the host end is a standard USB 3.0 Type-A male plug that fits any USB-A receptacle on a PC, laptop, Mac, Xbox or TV.
