Measures earth resistance from .01 to 2000 Ω with GPRS and RS485 communication for continuous online monitoring
The ETCR 2900B is a fixed-installation detector that continuously measures earth resistance from 0.01 Ω to 2000 Ω and grounding voltage. It uses a 128 mm by 75 mm LCD to display real-time readings and stores over 10000 measurement records. Data is transmitted via RS485 or GPRS for remote supervision.
Electrical substations, telecom towers and industrial plants that require unattended, round-the-clock monitoring of their earthing systems will benefit from the automatic 1 to 999 hour interval setting. Sites without cellular coverage or a wired RS485 backbone cannot use the communication features and should consider a local-display-only instrument.
This span determines whether the detector can verify the low-resistance earths demanded by high-voltage protection schemes or the higher values found in lightning-protection networks. If your specification calls for a range outside these limits, the 2900B will not meet the requirement.

The detector’s display measures 128 mm wide by 75 mm high, so allow at least that clear panel cut-out plus clearance for the housing and cable glands.
Reversing the RS485 A and B lines is the most common error; verify polarity against the terminal labels before sealing the enclosure.
Replace the spikes once their tips become corroded or bent, as worn spikes raise contact resistance and skew readings across the 0.01 Ω to 2000 Ω range.
