Host-to-Drive Connectivity
This internal cable bridges a host or RAID controller equipped with a 36-pin SFF-8087 mini-SAS port to four SAS hard drives using 29-pin SFF-8482 connectors. It also supplies drive power through an integrated 4-pole power lead. The assembly supports SAS 3.0 signalling at up to 6.0 Gbps per lane.
Builders with SFF-8087 Controllers
Suitable for installers who need to fan out a single mini-SAS 4i lane into four direct-attached SAS drives inside a chassis. Not for systems whose host side uses a different mini-SAS pin count or whose target drives lack a 29-pin SAS interface. The fixed 3 ft length may not reach distant drive bays in larger enclosures.
100 Ohm Impedance
The 30AWG tinned-copper conductors are built to a controlled 100 ohm differential impedance, which preserves signal integrity at 6.0 Gbps across all four lanes. This specification determines whether the cable meets the electrical requirements of a given SAS 3.0 controller and drive combination.

Questions about this item
What host controller connector does this cable require to work?
The cable plugs into a host or RAID controller with an SFF-8087 36-pin mini SAS port.
Can I attach older SAS drives that use the SFF-8482 interface?
Yes, each of the four target ends is a 29-pin SFF-8482 connector designed for SAS drives using that interface.
How do I verify the link is running at the rated 6.0 Gbps per lane?
Check the controller BIOS or operating-system drive utility; it should report a 6.0 Gbps SAS 3.0 link on each of the four lanes.
