Compact single-sided card printer for small-batch

The Evolis Badgy100 is a desktop card printer built for single-sided colour or monochrome output on PVC cards. It targets offices, schools and small organisations that produce employee badges, membership cards or visitor passes in modest volumes. The package includes the printer, a colour ribbon rated for 50 prints, 50 blank PVC cards and Evolis Badge Studio software for design and encoding.

Single-sided print module limits output to one

The printer uses a single-side print module with dye-sublimation for colour and thermal transfer for black, delivering a maximum resolution of 260 x 300 dpi. It prints colour cards in 45 seconds each (80 cards per hour) and monochrome cards in 16 seconds each (225 cards per hour). Cards must be ISO CR-80 format, 0.50 to 0.76 mm thick, and the feeder holds 25 to 40 cards depending on thickness.

USB 2.0 interface with low power draw and quiet

Connection is via USB 2.0 (compatible with USB 1.1 and 3.0 ports) and the unit ships with an external power supply. In normal use the printer runs quietly and draws minimal power, making it suitable for shared workspaces or reception desks. The compact footprint of 5.78 x 7.87 x 10.86 inches and weight of 3.74 lbs allow easy placement on a counter or shelf.

Questions about this item

What does 45 seconds per color card mean when I am printing a batch?

The printer produces a full-color card in about 45 seconds, yielding roughly 80 cards per hour; black-only cards take 16 seconds each for about 225 per hour.

The spec lists USB 2.0 — what does that limit in daily use?

USB 2.0 provides enough bandwidth for the 16 MB buffer and the 45-second color cycle, so the connection will not slow the print speed.

Will the 5.78 by 7.87 by 10.86 inch footprint fit on my desk and take standard CR-80 cards?

The unit measures 5.78 x 7.87 x 10.86 inches and weighs 3.74 lbs, accepting ISO CR-80 cards (53.98 x 85.60 mm) from 0.50 to 0.76 mm thick.
