Converts cassettes directly to MP3 on a USB stick without a computer, auto-splits tracks, and plays back through a 3.5 mm headphone jack
The ezcap231 captures audio directly from a cassette tape onto a USB flash drive as MP3 files without needing a computer. It suits anyone with a box of old mixtapes, voice memos or audiobooks who wants digital copies quickly and without software installation.
The unit runs from two AA cells or any USB port, and a 3.5 mm jack lets you listen while recording or playback. Audio is captured at 44.1 or 48 kHz, 16-bit, so each song occupies roughly 4 MB and a 32 GB drive holds about 8000 tracks.
Auto-reverse flips the tape mid-conversion so both sides record unattended, while auto mode writes each track or spoken segment to its own file. FAT, FAT32 and exFAT drives up to 32 GB are supported; NTFS volumes are not recognised.

Insert a FAT, FAT32 or exFAT USB flash drive up to 32 GB, power the unit via USB or two AA batteries, press play on the cassette and hold the Next button 3–5 seconds to choose auto or manual recording. The step often missed is formatting the drive to a supported file system first.
The only consumable is the two AA batteries if you use battery power; the USB port supplies steadier voltage. No internal battery, tape heads or belts are listed as user-replaceable, so normal care is keeping the heads clean with a standard cassette cleaning kit.
The 32 GB maximum USB drive capacity is the first hard limit — at 4 MB per song that caps you at roughly 8000 tracks. File-system support stops at exFAT, so NTFS drives will not work, and the unit only records at 44.1 or 48 kHz / 16-bit.
