Compatible IBM Server Cooling

This new CPU air cooler is built for IBM System x3550 M2, M3, x3650 M2 and M3 servers. It replaces the original heatsink assemblies using part numbers 49Y5341 and 49Y4820. The unit suits administrators maintaining these specific rackmount platforms. It is not for builders working on custom desktop chassis or non-IBM hardware.

Direct Replacement Installation

The heatsink aligns with the existing mounting points on the supported IBM motherboards for a straightforward swap. Thermal paste must be cleaned and reapplied during the changeover. The most common issue is forgetting to remove the old compound, which reduces contact pressure. Another frequent problem is uneven screw tightening that warms one core faster than the others.
