Solar lift support hood

The FCS STRUTS 86557 is a transparent automotive accessory designed to hold a vehicle hood in the open position. It replaces a worn or damaged original strut so the bonnet stays raised during maintenance or inspection. The unit is supplied new and ready for direct fitment.

For owners needing a direct replacement

This part suits drivers who want an exact-match lift support for their specific hood application. It is not for buyers who require a different length, force rating or mounting style, nor for those converting a vehicle that never used a gas-charged strut. Compatibility must be verified against the original equipment specification.

Fits into the existing hood hinge points

The strut bolts onto the factory mounting locations, so no drilling or bracket fabrication is required. It frees both hands while working in the engine bay and eliminates the need for a separate prop rod. Confirm the original part number matches 86557 before installation.

Questions about this item

Does the 86557 lift support hood fit my vehicle without additional brackets?

The 86557 is an automotive accessory; verify your vehicle's mounting points match the strut's specifications before installation.

Can the transparent 86557 strut replace a faded original on an older car?

Yes, the transparent color allows visual inspection of the rod and seal, making it a direct visual upgrade for ageing hood supports.

How do I confirm the 86557 is holding the hood at the correct height after fitting?

Open the hood fully; it should stay stationary without drifting down and require only moderate force to close.
