Lumbar Support for Office Chairs

The Fellowes 9190701 is a low-profile back support designed for office workers who need lumbar reinforcement during long periods of sitting. It attaches to most standard chairs using an adjustable strap and uses high-density foam to maintain its shape over time. The compact dimensions allow it to fit a variety of seat sizes without overhang.

Behaviour During Extended Use

High-density foam resists permanent compression better than standard cushioning, so the support retains its firmness throughout a full workday. The breathable nylon cover helps reduce heat buildup against the back, while the adjustable strap keeps the unit from shifting when the user changes posture. These features combine to deliver consistent lumbar contact without frequent readjustment.

Practical Limits of the Strap Attachment

The adjustable strap secures the support to chair backs within a typical range of circumferences, but it cannot anchor to seats that lack a suitable back structure or attachment point. Because the unit relies on friction and tension, very smooth or heavily contoured backrests may allow some lateral movement. Users with non-standard or frameless chairs should verify compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 12 in wide lumbar support generate heat during all-day use?

The high-density foam core and breathable nylon cover are designed to dissipate body heat rather than trap it.

What type of chair is required for the adjustable strap to attach securely?

The strap fits around most standard office chair backs, including mesh, fabric, and leather surfaces.

Will the 5 1/4 in high profile interfere with a headrest on an older executive chair?

The low-profile design sits in the lumbar curve, typically clearing fixed or adjustable headrests.
