What this adapter does

The fenvi AX1800 is a USB 3.0 wireless adapter that adds WiFi 6 connectivity to a desktop or laptop. It supports the 802.11ax standard on both 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands with a combined data rate of 1800 Mbps. The device uses two foldable 5 dBi antennas and includes WPA3 encryption. Driver installation is automatic on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Who should buy it

This adapter suits users who want a simple USB upgrade to WiFi 6 on a Windows 10 or 11 computer. It works well for streaming, video calls and general wireless access where an internal card is not an option. Buyers who need support for operating systems other than Windows 10 or 11 should look at something else. Anyone requiring a wired Ethernet connection will not find it here.

The spec that decides fit

The critical detail is the USB 3.0 interface with backward compatibility to USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. On a USB 3.0 port the adapter can reach the full 1201 Mbps on 5.8 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. On a USB 2.0 port the link speed will be limited by the bus bandwidth. Check your available USB port version before buying.

Questions about this item

How much clearance do the two 5 dBi foldable antennas need when the adapter is plugged into a USB 3.0 port?

The antennas fold flat against the body and pivot upward; allow roughly 5 cm above the port so they can be angled for best signal without hitting the chassis or nearby cables.

Does the driver install automatically on Windows 10 and 11, or do I need to run a setup file first?

Windows 10 and 11 load the driver automatically when the adapter is inserted; no CD or download is required — just plug it in and wait for the notification that the device is ready.

Will the 5 dBi antennas degrade over time, and can they be replaced if the hinge loosens?

The antennas are fixed to the adapter housing and are not user-replaceable; the fold mechanism is rated for normal daily adjustment, but excessive force can weaken the hinge.
