NVMe M-Key to dual USB 3.1 adapter
This Fervit adapter converts a motherboard NVMe M-Key slot into two USB 3.1 20-pin Type-E front-panel headers. It allows a chassis with USB-C front ports to operate at full USB 3.1 speed even when the board lacks a native header. The compact design plugs directly into the M-Key slot without extra cables or brackets. Video, audio and power-delivery functions are not supported.
Replaces missing native USB 3.1 headers
The upgrade is worth it when a case provides USB-C front-panel connectors but the motherboard has no matching 20-pin header. It also helps when existing headers are occupied by other devices. The adapter does not add NVMe storage; it repurposes the M-Key interface purely for USB 3.1 signalling at up to 10 Gbps.
Fits builds with a spare M-Key slot
Installation requires an unused NVMe M-Key connector on the motherboard and a case equipped with dual USB 3.1 Type-E front-panel ports. The adapter frees the board’s native USB headers for other peripherals. No external power connection is needed, and the low-profile form factor clears most expansion cards and coolers.

Questions about this item
Which motherboard slot does the Fervit adapter plug into?
The adapter inserts into an NVME NGFF M-Key Express slot on the motherboard.
How do you connect the adapter to the case front-panel header, and what step is often missed?
Attach the dual 20-pin Type-E cables to the matching USB 3.1 headers; the step often missed is seating both connectors fully so each lane is active.
Will the adapter ever need a firmware update or component replacement?
No firmware or replaceable parts are involved; the passive design means no ongoing maintenance is required.
