Purpose and compatibility
This Fervit adapter converts a USB-C power-delivery source into a 12 V DC barrel output for laptops that use a 4.0 mm by 1.7 mm jack. It is intended for owners of compatible notebooks who want to replace a proprietary brick with a standard 65 W USB-C charger. Buyers whose devices require 5 V, 9 V, 15 V or 20 V output cannot use this unit.
Sustained-load behaviour
The built-in PD trigger negotiates a fixed 12 V rail from the charger and maintains that voltage continuously while the laptop draws power. Because the adapter passes only the negotiated 12 V level, it does not cycle through other PDO voltages during extended sessions, so connected devices see a stable supply as long as the charger honours its 65 W rating.
Installation notes
Plug the 90-degree DC barrel into the laptop first, then connect the USB-C charger to the female port; the angled plug reduces strain on the laptop jack in tight spaces. The adapter only works with chargers that support the required PD profile, so a basic 5 V-only USB-C supply will not activate the 12 V output. No drivers or configuration are needed.

Questions about this item
Does the adapter itself get warm when powering a laptop all day from a 65W charger?
The adapter contains only a PD trigger circuit and a passive DC plug; it has no active components that generate noticeable heat during continuous use.
What charger must I already own for this adapter to deliver 12V to my laptop?
You need a USB-C charger that supports 65W Power Delivery; the adapter requests 12V from that charger and passes it to the 4.0x1.7mm DC plug.
Will this work with an older laptop that only accepts a 4.0x1.7mm 12V barrel jack?
Yes, the 90° DC male plug fits a 4.0x1.7mm 12V barrel jack, letting you power that laptop from a modern 65W USB-C PD charger.
