Fervit USB4 NVMe enclosure
The Fervit USB4 enclosure accepts an 80 mm NGFF M-key NVMe SSD up to 8 TB in the 2280 form factor. A dedicated screwdriver is included for quick installation. The unit is compact, portable and operates plug-and-play without driver installation. It does not support B-key or B+M-key SATA SSDs and cannot be used with graphics cards.
USB4 40 Gbps host connection
The enclosure connects through a USB4 Type-C port and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 hosts. It supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 at 20 Gbps for broad system adaptability. PCIe and USB dual tunnels are handled by the ASM2464 chipset. The NVMe drive itself is not included and must be supplied separately.
Sustained transfer behaviour
Theoretical maximum read and write speeds reach 3200 MB/s over USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 links. In USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20 G mode the ceiling is 20 Gbps. Protocol conversion losses mean real-world sustained throughput will sit below the theoretical peak. Large 8K RAW file transfers run roughly three times faster than on standard USB NVMe enclosures.

Questions about this item
What is the first performance limit reached during sustained transfers with the ASM2464 chipset?
Protocol conversion losses cap the theoretical maximum read and write speeds at 3200Mb/s even though the USB4 interface supports 40Gbps.
How much heat or noise does the enclosure produce when running all day?
The aluminium shell acts as a passive heatsink with no fan, so it stays silent and warm to the touch under continuous load.
Which host port must the computer already have to reach 40Gbps with this enclosure?
A USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4 Type-C port is required; USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20Gbps ports will operate at half the peak bandwidth.
