Festo 18 mm 5/3 Solenoid Valve

The Festo VSVA-B-P53E-ZH-A2-2AC1 is a pilot-controlled pneumatic valve with an 18 mm valve size and 5 mm nominal width. It operates on 110 V AC at 50/60 Hz with an initial power of 2.9 VA and holding power of 2.1 VA. The unit features a soft sealing principle, mechanical spring reset and non-detenting manual override. It is designed for compressed air per ISO 8573-1:2010 [7:4:4] and includes an LED signal status display.

Replaces 5/2 or 3/2 valves needing centre-exhaust

This 5/3 exhausted valve with overlap lap replaces simpler two-position valves when a safe middle position that exhausts both work ports is required. The jump is worth it for safety-critical circuits where cylinders must stop in a depressurised state during power loss or emergency stop. It is not for systems that only need basic on/off actuation or where a pressurised centre position is specified.

Limits of 110 V AC pilot interface

The valve requires a pilot pressure of 3 to 10 bar and an operating pressure range of -0.9 to 10 bar. Permissible voltage fluctuations are -15 % / +10 % from the nominal 110 V AC supply. Switching times are 18 ms on, 30 ms off and 20 ms changeover with a 100 % duty cycle. Flow rates reach 650 l/min on the valve, 500 l/min on individual sub-base and 450 l/min optimised for pneumatically concatenated flow. External pilot air supply is mandatory.
