40G QSFP+ transceiver for short-reach links

This Finisar FTL410QE2C module provides a 40 Gigabit per second optical interface in the QSFP+ form factor. It is built for data-centre and enterprise switches that need to connect over multimode fibre within a single rack or row. The part arrives new and ready for immediate installation in compatible ports.

Reach limited to 100 metres on multimode fibre

The transceiver supports links up to 100 metres using standard multimode fibre, which covers typical intra-rack and adjacent-rack runs. It will not serve longer campus or building-to-building spans that require single-mode optics. Buyers needing extended reach must select a different module rated for those distances.

Questions about this item

What does the 40 Gigabit per second rate mean when the FTL410QE2C is installed in a switch?

The module delivers 40 Gbps of aggregate throughput across four lanes, giving a single 40 Gigabit Ethernet link over multimode fiber.

How does the QSFP+ interface limit the distance of this transceiver?

The QSFP+ form factor combined with the SR4 optics caps the reach at 100 metres on OM3 or OM4 multimode fiber.
