28 in chopping axe

The Fiskars 375581-1001 is a 28 in chopping axe built for splitting logs and processing firewood. Its fiberglass and nylon handle is designed to be unbreakable under normal striking force.

Gardeners and homeowners preparing winter fuel

This axe suits anyone who needs a durable tool for occasional or regular wood splitting. Buyers who want a lighter hatchet for kindling or a longer maul for heavy rounds should look at something else.

Low friction coating and ultra sharp edge

The blade coating reduces drag so each swing penetrates deeper with less effort. The edge holds its sharpness through extended sessions, letting you work longer without frequent resharpening.

Questions about this item

Does the 28 in handle require any separate tool for assembly?

The axe arrives fully assembled; the fiberglass‑nylon handle is permanently fixed to the head so no extra tools or parts are needed.

Can the low‑friction coating on the blade reduce binding when I alternate with an older steel wedge?

Yes, the coating lets the blade slide through wood with less drag, so it works cleanly alongside a traditional splitting wedge.

How can I confirm the unbreakable handle is intact after the first few splits?

Inspect the handle for cracks or flex; the fiberglass‑nylon construction should show no damage and the ultra‑sharp edge should still bite cleanly.
