Belt-drive turntable plays 33 and 45 RPM records with an Audio-Technica VM95E elliptical cartridge, built-in phono preamp, acrylic mat.
The Fluance RT81P is a belt-drive turntable designed for listeners who want high-fidelity analog playback from 33 and 45 RPM records. It arrives with an Audio-Technica VM95E cartridge featuring a diamond elliptical stylus already mounted on a removable headshell. A built-in Texas Instruments phono preamp and gold-plated RCA outputs let you connect directly to amplifiers or powered speakers without extra components.
The turntable ships largely assembled, so installation mainly involves fitting the platter, placing the acrylic mat, and connecting cables. The critical step is adjusting the three height-adjustable isolation feet to level the 14.1 lbs plinth on your furniture; an uneven surface transmits vibration and degrades imaging. Cartridge alignment is factory-set, but the removable headshell allows easy VM-series upgrades later if desired.
Sound quality is bounded by the belt-drive mechanism, the VM95E’s 4.0mV output, and the built-in preamp’s fixed gain stage. There is no digital conversion, USB output, or Bluetooth transmission, so the system cannot feed a computer or wireless speakers directly. The MDF plinth and anti-resonant platter suppress rumble, yet the turntable remains sensitive to external footfall and speaker vibration if the isolation feet are not carefully levelled.

Check that the diamond elliptical stylus sits cleanly in the groove, listen for balanced channel output at 4.0 mV through the built-in phono preamp, and verify no audible distortion on 33 or 45 RPM records.
The turntable includes the Audio Technica VM95E cartridge on a removable headshell, acrylic mat, dampened aluminum platter, three adjustable isolation feet, built-in Texas Instruments phono preamp, gold-plated RCA outputs and ground terminal; you add an amplifier or powered speakers and cables.
The RT81P Elite adds the VM95E cartridge, acrylic mat, dampened aluminum anti-resonant platter and built-in phono preamp over the standard model, delivering higher output and improved isolation for a clearer analog signal.
