Reference Turntable with Ortofon 2M Red

The Fluance RT83T is a belt-drive turntable designed for listeners who want a pure analog signal path. It ships with an Ortofon 2M Red elliptical cartridge mounted on a balanced S-shaped tonearm. A high-mass MDF plinth and isolated servo motor work together to suppress vibration and maintain consistent speed.

Buyers seeking warm vinyl reproduction

This deck suits enthusiasts who value musical accuracy and a detailed soundstage without electronic coloration. The 5.5mV cartridge output works with standard moving-magnet phono stages. Buyers who need built-in phono pre-amplification, USB digitising, or automatic cueing should look at alternative models.

0.07% wow and flutter specification

The optical sensor continuously corrects platter velocity, keeping speed variation at 0.07% for stable pitch. Adjustable resonance-damping feet provide isolation from floor-borne micro-vibrations. The heavy plinth and metal platter add inertia for steady rotation, though the manual does not quote a rumble figure or specify maximum tracking error.

Questions about this item

Do I need a phono preamp or receiver with a phono input to hear the 5.5 mV output from the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge?

Yes, the cartridge produces a 5.5 mV signal that requires a phono stage with RIAA equalisation; connect the turntable's RCA cables to a dedicated phono input or an external phono preamp before reaching your amplifier.

Will the 0.07% wow and flutter spec keep pitch stable when I play older records alongside this turntable?

The servo-controlled motor with optical sensor maintains platter velocity at 0.07% wow and flutter, so pitch remains consistent regardless of record age or condition.

How can I verify the tonearm is tracking correctly after setting up the RT83T?

Play a familiar record and listen for clean, distortion-free playback across both channels; the balanced S-shaped tonearm and elliptical stylus should trace the groove without skipping or sibilance when properly aligned.
