Reference Vinyl Turntable

The Fluance RT85NB is a belt-drive turntable designed for listeners who want accurate analog playback without digital processing in the signal path. It arrives fitted with a Nagaoka MP-110 elliptical diamond cartridge and a high-density acrylic platter on a heavy MDF plinth.

Speed Control and Vibration Isolation

The isolated motor and speed-control mechanism hold platter velocity to 0.07% wow and flutter, limiting pitch variation during playback. The acrylic platter adds mass to damp unwanted resonances, while adjustable resonance-damping feet decouple the chassis from shelf-borne micro-vibrations.

Build Quality and Connectivity

A solid MDF wood plinth finished in lucky bamboo supports the 16.76 lb assembly, providing a rigid platform that resists flexing. Gold-plated RCA outputs deliver the pure analog signal to an external phono stage or amplifier, so buyers who need a built-in preamp or wireless streaming should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the RT85NB with the Nagaoka MP-110 cartridge or look for a different cartridge option?

The RT85NB comes factory-fitted with the Nagaoka MP-110 elliptical diamond cartridge, which is specified for balanced tonal accuracy, resolution and bass extension; no alternative cartridge version is offered for this model.

What does the 0.07% wow and flutter figure mean for everyday listening?

A 0.07% wow and flutter rating indicates very low speed variation, so pitch remains stable and music sounds natural without audible wobble during playback.

What connection standard do the gold-plated RCA outputs use and what does it limit?

The turntable uses unbalanced RCA outputs, which carry a pure analog signal from stylus to amplifier but are susceptible to noise over long cable runs compared to balanced connections.
