Built for Conventional and Hybrid Vehicles
The Fluke 88V Deluxe Automotive Multimeter is designed for garage use on both conventional and hybrid vehicles. It provides the measurement functions and troubleshooting features needed to solve electrical system problems. The 10 meg ohm input impedance protects sensitive computer circuits during testing. A large display with bright backlight ensures visibility in varying light conditions.
1000 V AC and DC Measurement Range
This multimeter measures up to 1000 V AC and DC, covering the high-voltage systems found in modern vehicles. It also handles current up to 20 A for 30 seconds and 10 A continuously. Resistance, continuity, diode test, frequency to 200 kHz, and duty cycle are included. DC accuracy is rated at 0.1% for precise diagnostics.
Optional Accessories Expand Capability
RPM measurements require an optional inductive pickup, while temperature readings need an optional temperature probe. The core unit delivers pulse width measurement with millisecond resolution for fuel injector analysis. Min/Max/Average recording with Min/Max Alert captures signal variations automatically. An analog bar graph tracks changing or unstable signals in real time.

Questions about this item
What does the .1% DC accuracy mean when I am testing a vehicle sensor circuit?
The meter reads DC voltage within one tenth of one percent of the true value, so small voltage changes on sensor circuits are shown reliably.
What measurement limits does the 200 kHz frequency range set for automotive signals?
You can capture injector and ignition waveforms up to 200 kHz, and the duty-cycle function shows on-time percentage for those same signals.
What does the multimeter need to measure RPM and temperature?
An optional inductive pickup for RPM and an optional temperature probe for temperature; both connect to the meter's accessory jack.
