Connection Type

This cable links a standard Toslink port to a 3.5 mm Mini Toslink port on compatible devices. It carries S/PDIF digital optical audio only and will not convert signals to or from analogue formats. The six-foot length suits desktop or living-room setups where the source and receiver sit close together. Buyers whose equipment uses only RCA, HDMI or full-size Toslink on both ends cannot use this cable.

Capacity and Headroom

Attenuation is rated at ≤0.2 dB per metre with a connection loss of ≤0.5 dB across the link. The 6 MHz transmission bandwidth supports uncompressed lossless PCM and compressed 5.1 surround formats without audible degradation. Runs longer than the supplied length would increase loss beyond the specified figures, so the cable is not suited for whole-home distribution.

Build and Extras

Gold-plated ferrules resist corrosion and protect the polished fibre tip during repeated insertion. A 5.0 mm PVC jacket with strain-relief moulding guards against kinks and cable fatigue at the connector exits. Metal connector housings damp vibration that could otherwise increase jitter. No adapters, converters or software are bundled; the cable itself is the complete accessory.

Questions about this item

Will the 6 ft cable reach from my 2013 Mac Pro to a soundbar without signal loss?

At ≤0.2 dB per metre the 6 ft run adds well under 0.5 dB total loss, so uncompressed PCM and compressed 5.1 formats pass cleanly.

How can I verify the link is carrying lossless audio after plugging it in?

Play a 24-bit PCM test file and confirm the receiver shows a bit-perfect lock with no drop-outs or jitter indicators.

Does the box include any adapters for standard 3.5 mm headphone jacks?

No — only the male mini-Toslink to male Toslink cable is supplied; analog 3.5 mm ports are not compatible.
