Compact high-airflow ATX case

The Fractal Design Torrent Compact is an ATX mid-tower built around two 180 mm PWM fans behind an open front grille. It accepts E-ATX boards up to 274 mm wide and fits a graphics card up to 330 mm long with the front fans in place. A top-mounted PSU shroud carries ARGB lighting and the front I/O includes a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C port.

Upgrade from smaller or closed-front cases

Moving from a case with 120 mm or 140 mm front fans to this 180 mm layout adds intake area without increasing width. The jump is worth it when a build runs hot under sustained load or when an E-ATX board would not fit in a standard mid-tower. Seven expansion slots and room for a 360 mm front radiator cover most high-end air and liquid setups.

Steady thermal behaviour under load

Two 180 x 38 mm Prisma PWM fans feed the GPU and CPU zone directly through the open grille, keeping airflow stable during long sessions. Bottom and front dust filters protect the intake path without choking volume. Tempered glass side and top panels latch without bolts, so the seal stays consistent when the system runs at full tilt for hours.

Questions about this item

What motherboard width does the Torrent Compact FD-C-TOR1C-02 support for E-ATX boards?

The case accepts E-ATX motherboards up to 274 mm wide, plus standard ATX, mATX, Mini-ITX and SSI-CEB form factors.

How are the two included 180 mm Prisma PWM fans mounted at the front, and what step is often missed?

The 180 mm fans sit on the front brackets; the step many miss is connecting each fan’s PWM cable to the motherboard or hub so speed control works.

Which dust filters need regular cleaning on this model?

The bottom and front dust filters are removable and should be cleaned periodically to maintain the high-airflow design.
