A4 duplex Wi-Fi scanner for paperless offices
The Fujitsu ScanSnap iX500 captures both sides of a page in one pass at 25 pages per minute. An automatic document feeder handles sheets from 40 to 209 g/m² up to A4 size. Wireless 802.11 b/g/n and USB 1.1, 2.0 or 3.0 connections let you scan directly to a PC, Mac or mobile device without a cable. Optical resolution reaches 600 x 600 dpi using a CIS sensor.
Limits of 600 dpi CIS scanning and 802.11n Wi-Fi
The 600 dpi optical resolution suits everyday documents but will not resolve fine detail on photographic prints or film. CIS sensors have a shallow depth of field, so thick or warped originals may show soft edges. Wireless throughput on 802.11 b/g/n tops out well below USB 3.0 speeds, so large multi-page PDFs transfer faster over the wired port. The feeder accepts a maximum of 50 sheets per batch.
Check your OS, driver source
Minimum supported Windows version is Windows 7; macOS and mobile support depend on current ScanSnap software releases. The scanner draws 20 W from a standard mains outlet and weighs 3 kg, so ensure a stable desk surface and a free socket near your workstation. Verify that your preferred document-management application can import from a TWAIN or WIA source.

Questions about this item
Should I pick the USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 connection for this scanner?
Use USB 3.0 when the port is available; the scanner supports USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 and will run at the highest speed the host provides.
What does the 25 ppm rating mean when I scan double-sided A4 pages?
The 25 pages per minute figure is for simplex; duplex scanning captures both sides in one pass at the same sheet rate, so a 50-page document finishes in about two minutes.
Will 802.11n Wi-Fi slow down large batch scans compared with USB?
802.11n caps real-world throughput well below USB 3.0, so very large jobs transfer faster over cable; Wi-Fi is convenient for light daily use.
