Wide-format instant camera

The FUJIFILM Instax Wide 400 produces 2.4 x 3.9 inch images on 3.4 x 4.3 inch film, the largest format in the Instax line. It uses a retractable 95mm f/14 lens with two-range focus zones and a 0.37x optical viewfinder with target spot for composition. Automatic exposure and built-in flash handle lighting without manual settings. A close-up lens adapter and angle adjustment accessory are included for varied shooting.

Sustained shooting behavior

The camera operates on four AA batteries and powers down automatically after five minutes of inactivity to conserve energy. The self-timer lever offers two-second increments up to ten seconds with an LED countdown, useful for group shots. Flash recharges between frames during continuous use, and the fixed aperture means exposure relies entirely on the automatic system and flash output in lower light.

Film format constraints

Instax Wide film yields a single print per exposure with no digital backup or negative. Image area is fixed at 2.4 x 3.9 inches, so cropping or enlargement is not possible after the shot. The two-range focus zone and fixed f/14 aperture limit depth-of-field control and close-up capability without the included adapter. Film must be purchased separately and stored properly before use.
