16x magnification image-stabilised binoculars

These Fujifilm Techno-Stabi TS-L1640 binoculars deliver 16x magnification through a 40 mm objective lens. Electronic image stabilisation corrects up to ±3 degrees of movement for a steady hand-held view. They suit outdoor enthusiasts, marine users and event spectators who need high magnification without a tripod.

Stabilisation range and optical limits

The ±3 degree correction handles typical hand tremor and moderate platform motion but cannot compensate for severe vibration or rapid panning. A 5 degree apparent field of view is inherent to the 16x optical design. Multi-coated lenses with extra-low dispersion glass reduce chromatic aberration and maximise light transmission within these parameters.

Nitrogen-sealed roof-prism construction

The roof-prism chassis is nitrogen-purged for internal fog-proofing and rated water-resistant to 1 m for 30 minutes. Dimensions are 10.2 in × 8.4 in × 6.7 in, giving a substantial but manageable form for extended observation sessions. Multi-coated anti-reflective surfaces stay effective in harsh salt-spray or humid environments.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between the 16x magnification and other powers for my use?

The 16x magnification with a 40mm objective lens gives a 5-degree field of view, which is narrower than lower-power models but provides much finer detail on distant subjects.

What does the +/-3 degree stabilization actually do when I am on a boat or in a moving vehicle?

The electronic stabilization corrects shake within a +/-3 degree range, keeping the image steady enough for comfortable viewing without a tripod even on rough water or bumpy roads.

What limits does the roof prism design and nitrogen sealing place on real-world use?

The roof prism keeps the body compact at 10.2 x 8.4 x 6.7 inches, while nitrogen sealing makes them fog-proof and water-resistant to 1 metre for 30 minutes.
