Scans single-sided pages at 40 ppm or double-sided at 80 ipm with a 600 dpi CCD sensor, plus a flatbed for bound or fragile originals
The Fujitsu fi-6230Z combines an automatic document feeder with a flatbed for versatile document capture. It uses a 24-bit CCD sensor with white cold cathode lamps for consistent illumination. The scanner connects via USB 2.0 and operates on AC 100-240V power. It includes TWAIN and ISIS drivers plus Kofax VRS Professional for image enhancement.
Offices that scan loose pages, bound books, and embossed cards up to 1.4 mm thick will benefit from the dual feed paths. Ultrasonic double-feed detection reduces missed pages during unattended runs. Organisations needing faster than 80 ipm duplex throughput or network scanning without a PC should consider other solutions.
The scanner captures at 600 x 600 dpi optical resolution, which determines the detail available for OCR and archival records. ADF simplex speed reaches 40 ppm at 200 dpi and 30 ppm at 300 dpi, while duplex reaches 80 ipm and 60 ipm respectively. Flatbed scans complete in 1.7 seconds at either resolution.

Connect the USB 2.0 cable and the AC adapter to a 100-240V supply, then run the Setup DVD-ROM to install TWAIN, ISIS, Kofax VRS Professional and ScandAll PRO 2.0 Std.; the step often missed is restarting Windows before launching the Software Operation Panel.
The white cold cathode discharge lamps and the reversing rollers in the ADF will require periodic cleaning and eventual replacement; the carrier sheet supplied in the box should also be replaced when it shows wear.
At 200 dpi the ADF reaches 80 ipm in duplex, but at 300 dpi the speed drops to 60 ipm, so the 300 dpi throughput ceiling is the first limit you will hit during long OCR or barcode batches.
