What the Fujitsu iX1500 does

The Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 is a colour duplex document scanner built for home offices and small businesses. It feeds up to 50 sheets automatically and scans both sides in a single pass at up to 30 ppm. A 4.3 inch touch screen lets you send files straight to cloud services or local folders. Connectivity is handled by USB cable or dual-band Wi-Fi for cable-free placement.

Who this suits and who it does not

The scanner fits users who need fast, unattended batch scanning of mixed documents, cards and receipts with minimal setup. It is not for buyers who want a flatbed for bound books or fragile originals, nor for workflows that require network scanning without a host device. The 50-sheet feeder limits very large unattended jobs.

The spec that decides fit

Optical resolution tops out at 600 dpi, which determines the detail level for archival scans and OCR accuracy. If your process demands higher resolution for enlargement or specialised imaging, this model will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

How much power does the iX1500 draw and how noisy is it when running continuously at 30 ppm?

The scanner operates from the supplied USB cable or over Wi-Fi, so its power draw is limited to the USB bus. The 4.3 inch touch screen and ADF motor run quietly enough for a shared office, and the unit has no active cooling fan.

What does the buyer need to own already to use the 4.3 inch touch screen and Wi-Fi scanning to Google Drive or Dropbox?

You need a 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network and a Google or Dropbox account. The ScanSnap Home software must be installed on a Windows PC or Mac to set up cloud destinations before the touch screen can send files directly.

Will the USB cable and ScanSnap Home software work with an older Windows 7 PC and USB 2.0 port the buyer may keep?

The scanner connects by USB cable and is compatible with Windows 7 or later. On a USB 2.0 port the link runs at USB 2.0 speed, which still supports the 600 dpi optical resolution and 50 page ADF capacity.
