Compact 5-Sided Mini-ITX Chassis

The G.SKILL Z5i is a Mini-ITX case with a distinctive pentagonal shape and curved 4mm tempered glass panels on both sides. It is designed for builders who want a small-footprint system that still accommodates high-end components. The layout supports Mini-ITX motherboards and SFX power supplies.

Thermals Noise and Power

A 280mm AIO radiator can be installed for liquid cooling, and the case accepts triple-slot graphics cards up to 330mm in length. A magnetic top dust filter simplifies cleaning, while the tool-less hinge design allows quick access to internal hardware without removing screws.

Upgrade Path and Fit

The Z5i replaces standard rectangular Mini-ITX enclosures that limit radiator size or GPU length. It is not suited for builds requiring ATX or Micro-ATX motherboards, multiple 3.5-inch drive bays, or front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity. The included PCIe 3.0 extension cable enables flexible GPU mounting.

Questions about this item

How do I install the PCIe 3.0 extension cable and what is the common mistake?

Route the included PCIe 3.0 extension cable from the motherboard slot to the rear bracket, ensuring the connector clicks fully into the GPU; the frequent error is leaving it loose, which causes signal loss.

What maintenance will the magnetic top dust filter need over time?

The magnetic top dust filter lifts off for cleaning; wash it with mild soap, dry thoroughly, and snap it back — no tools required.

What thermal limit appears first when running a 280 mm AIO under sustained load?

The 280 mm radiator capacity becomes the bottleneck before the 330 mm GPU clearance or the PCIe 3.0 link, so monitor coolant temperatures during long sessions.
