5.0″ touchscreen GPS navigator

The Garmin Nuvi 52LM is a portable navigation device with a 5.0″ WQVGA colour TFT touchscreen. It comes preloaded with City Navigator NT maps for the lower 49 states and includes lifetime map updates. A high-sensitivity receiver and lane-assist guidance help manage busy interchanges. The unit accepts microSD cards for extra storage.

Drivers wanting simple, dedicated routing

This navigator suits motorists who want a standalone unit that speaks street names and offers multi-point routing without relying on a smartphone. It is not for users who need live traffic, Bluetooth phone pairing or a larger display. Buyers who want all-day battery life away from a vehicle charger should look elsewhere.

2-hour battery life

The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to two hours of use per charge. In practice the device is designed to run from a vehicle power socket for continuous navigation. If your journeys regularly exceed two hours without in-car power, this limitation will affect usability.

Questions about this item

Will the 5.0" touchscreen and voice prompts work reliably in my older vehicle without a built-in infotainment system?

Yes, the high-sensitivity receiver and preloaded City Navigator NT maps for the lower 49 states provide turn-by-turn directions with spoken street names on the 480 x 272 WQVGA display, powered by the internal rechargeable battery.

How can I confirm the lifetime map updates are active after I register the device?

Register the unit through Garmin Express on a computer; the nüMaps Guarantee then delivers a free map update, and the on-screen map version will reflect the latest data for the preloaded lower 49 states.

Does the box include a microSD card for extra POI storage or do I need to buy one separately?

The package contains the navigator, a vehicle suction mount and a USB charging cable; microSD cards are accepted up to the slot limit but are not supplied, so you must purchase a card separately if you want additional storage.
