An 8-pin power cable for compatible GPSMAP and echoMAP devices, also supporting NMEA 0183 connections and a lamp or horn for alerts
The Garmin 010-11970-00 is an 8-pin power cable built for compatible GPSMAP® and echoMAP™ marine displays. It delivers power and data connection to the unit while also supporting a lamp or horn for visible or audible alerts. The cable is supplied new and ready for installation on a boat.
This cable suits owners of GPSMAP or echoMAP devices that accept the 8-pin connector and who want a single cable for power, NMEA 0183 data, and alert signalling. It will not work with units that require a different pin arrangement, a proprietary connector, or a network backbone other than NMEA 0183.
The defining specification is the 8-pin interface that carries supply voltage, NMEA 0183 sentences, and the lamp or horn trigger in one harness. Matching this pin count and protocol to the display’s port is the only check needed before purchase.

The cable has an 8-pin plug that mates directly with the compatible Garmin chartplotter or fishfinder; the open leads connect to power, NMEA 0183 data and a lamp or horn for alerts.
Wiring the lamp or horn leads to a fused circuit is frequently overlooked, so the audible or visible alert function stays inactive even though power and data work.
The bare wire ends and crimp terminals corrode fastest; inspect and re-crimp or heat-shrink them each season to keep power and NMEA 0183 signals reliable.
