Gates XPA1000 Metric V-Belt
The Gates XPA1000 is a metric V-belt built for power transmission in industrial machinery. It suits maintenance teams working on food-processing equipment, machine tools and textile machinery. The single-band design uses EPDM construction with a polyester reinforcing cord. Raw-edge finishing provides consistent grip on compatible pulleys.
Replaces worn XPA-section belts
This belt replaces an existing XPA-section belt measuring 1000 mm outside length. The upgrade is worth it when the old belt shows cracking, glazing or stretch that causes slip. EPDM material resists heat ageing better than older rubber compounds across a wide temperature range. Polyester cords maintain length stability under repeated tension cycles.
Limited to XPA pulley profiles
The belt only fits pulleys machined to the XPA metric profile with a 12 mm top width. It cannot be used on classical inch-series or narrow V-pulley grooves. Operating limits span -70 °F to 250 °F, so environments outside this range need a different belt specification. Closed-loop length of 1 023 mm is fixed and cannot be adjusted.

Questions about this item
What pulley groove width does the 12 mm top-width belt require?
The belt is built to the XPA metric profile with a 12 mm top width, so it mates with standard XPA pulley grooves.
How do I tension the closed-loop belt without a split-link, and what step is often missed?
Loosen the driven component, roll the belt onto the pulleys, then apply tension until the 9 mm thick cord deflects correctly; the missed step is re-checking deflection after the first run-in.
When should the EPDM belt be replaced given the -70 to 250 °F rating?
Inspect for cord exposure, cracking, or glazing; replace immediately if the polyester reinforcement shows or if the belt slips under normal load.
