65W USB-C adapter for Lenovo ThinkPad and Chromebook

This 65W USB-C power adapter replaces the original Lenovo charger for a wide range of ThinkPad and Chromebook models. It supports ThinkPad T, X, E, L and X1 Carbon series alongside Yoga and Flex devices. The unit is new and built to meet North American electrical safety standards. It includes protections against short circuit, overvoltage, overcurrent and internal overheating.

USB-C Power Delivery limits at 20V 3.25A

The adapter delivers up to 65W through USB-C Power Delivery with fixed output steps of 20V 3.25A, 15V 3A and 9V 2A. It accepts a universal 110-240V AC input for worldwide use. Power is limited to the stated profiles; devices requesting higher voltage or current will not receive it. The single USB-C port supplies one device at a time.

65W headroom for ultraportables

At 65W the adapter comfortably powers ultraportables such as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, X270, X280, X380, X390 and 13-inch Yoga models. It also covers 45W-class Chromebooks and ThinkPad 13 variants. Larger 15-inch workstations or models that draw more than 65W will exceed the adapter's capacity and require a higher-wattage supply.

Questions about this item

Which output profile should I pick for a ThinkPad that ships with a 45 W charger?

The adapter negotiates 20 V 3.25 A for 65 W, 15 V 3 A for 45 W, and 9 V 2 A for lower-power models, so it will automatically deliver the correct profile.

What does the 65 W rating mean when the adapter is connected to a ThinkPad X1 Carbon?

At 20 V 3.25 A the unit supplies up to 65 W, letting the X1 Carbon charge at its maximum supported rate while running demanding workloads.

How does the USB-C Power Delivery negotiation cap the power delivered to a Lenovo Yoga 730s?

The charger offers 20 V 3.25 A, 15 V 3 A and 9 V 2 A; the Yoga 730s requests its required voltage and current, so power is limited to what the laptop accepts.
