GCROWN AX1800 USB Wi-Fi 6 Adapter

The GCROWN AX1800 USB Wi-Fi 6 Adapter adds dual-band wireless connectivity to a desktop PC through a USB port. It delivers up to 1201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band using WiFi 6 technology. Four external 3 dBi antennas and beamforming extend signal reach for gaming, streaming and browsing.

Best for Windows 10 and 11 desktops lacking

This adapter suits users who need a simple USB upgrade to WiFi 6 speeds and wider coverage from a WiFi 6 router. It also works as a Soft AP hotspot to share a wired connection with phones or tablets. Buyers running Linux, macOS or older Windows versions should look elsewhere, as driver support is limited to Windows 10 and 11 only.

AX1800 dual-band throughput with OFDMA and MU-MIMO

The adapter handles combined throughput of 1800 Mbps across both bands, managing multiple simultaneous streams efficiently. It comfortably supports high-definition streaming, online gaming and large downloads when paired with a compatible WiFi 6 router. Performance drops if the router only supports WiFi 5, or when distance and obstructions weaken the signal beyond the antennas' gain.

Questions about this item

Does the GCROWN AX1800 adapter require a USB 3.0 port to reach 1201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band?

The adapter connects via USB; a USB 3.0 port is recommended to avoid bottlenecking the 1201 Mbps 5 GHz link, while USB 2.0 will limit throughput well below the rated speed.

Will this adapter work with my existing WiFi 5 router on the 2.4 GHz band?

Yes, the adapter supports WiFi 5 routers and will connect at up to 574 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band using WiFi 6 features such as OFDMA and MU-MIMO for better efficiency.

How can I verify the adapter is delivering AX1800 performance after installation?

Check the Windows network status to confirm a 5 GHz link rate near 1201 Mbps and run a speed test; consistent results above WiFi 5 maximums indicate the AX1800 adapter is operating as intended.
