GE Current CFL Ballast
The GE Current CFL ballast is a programmed-start electronic unit designed for facilities that operate two 28 W compact fluorescent lamps. It accepts an input range of 120 to 277 V AC and supports 4-pin GX24q, G24q and 2G11 bases, making it suitable for commercial lighting retrofits and new installations.
Thermal Protection Class P
Class P thermal protection limits internal temperature during continuous operation, allowing the ballast to run reliably up to a maximum operating temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Starting is guaranteed down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit, so cold-weather performance remains consistent without the stress of instant-start ignition.
Replaces magnetic or instant-start ballasts
This model upgrades older magnetic or instant-start ballasts that lack programmed ignition and Class P safeguards. The jump is worth it when lamp life and cold-start reliability are priorities, while the absence of dimming means it is not suited for controls that require variable light output.

Questions about this item
How much heat does the ballast add when it runs all day at 104°F?
It is rated for a maximum operating temperature of 104°F and includes Class P thermal protection that shuts it down if it overheats.
Which lamp sockets must I already have for the GEC225MVPS-A to work?
You need two 4-pin sockets that accept GX24q, G24q or 2G11 bases, plus a 120–277 V AC supply.
Will this programmed-start ballast run the older 28 W CFL tubes I already own?
Yes — it supports up to two 28 W compact fluorescent lamps on the listed 4-pin bases and starts them at 0°F minimum.
