Eight-channel fiber video transmitter

The GE Security S708VT-RSTL transmits eight composite video channels over a single multimode fiber link using coarse wavelength division multiplexing. It accepts NTSC or PAL sources and provides 10-bit digital processing with a built-in test pattern generator and on-screen diagnostics. The unit is designed for security installations that need to consolidate multiple camera feeds onto one fiber run.

Capacity and headroom

Eight channels are supported simultaneously within a 13 dB optical budget across wavelengths from 850.0 nm to 1330.0 nm. Video bandwidth reaches 6.2 MHz and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 55 dB, delivering 500 TV lines of resolved detail from a 640 TV line input. The optical margin allows for typical connector and splice losses in a rack-mounted deployment.

Multimode fiber interface limits

Transmission is one-way over multimode fiber using frequency modulation and a 1.0 V peak-to-peak composite interface. The 13 dB budget defines the maximum usable link attenuation, so runs with higher loss will exceed the receiver sensitivity. Immunity compliance covers EN50204 and EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -11, but the product does not support return-path data, audio, or single-mode fiber operation.
