KVM Switch for DVI and HDMI Extension

The Gefen EXT-DVIKA-HBT2 extends DVI, USB, RS-232 and two-way analog audio between one computer and one remote user over a single CAT-5e cable. It uses HDBaseT 2.0 Colligo technology to reach 495 feet (150 meters) while providing Power Over HDBaseT so only the receiver needs the 48 V DC supply. This unit suits control-room, signage or studio setups that need keyboard, mouse, microphone and speaker extension alongside video.

Video Capacity and Limitations

DVI resolutions up to 1080p and 1920 x 1200 are supported natively. When DVI-to-HDMI cables are used, the link carries 4K DCI Cinema at 4096 x 2160 (30 Hz 4:4:4) and 4K Ultra HD at 3840 x 2160 (60 Hz 4:2:0). Bandwidth is 300 MHz. The switch handles 7.1-channel LPCM and HBR lossless audio including Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio. It does not support higher refresh rates or chroma sampling beyond those listed.

Thermals, Noise and Power Draw

Operating temperature range is 0 to 50 °C (32 to 122 °F) with 5 % to 90 % RH non-condensing. Combined sender and receiver consumption is 13 W from the single 48 V DC locking connector on the receiver. The compact metal enclosure (1.70" x 8.40" x 4.30", 1.10 lbs) has no moving parts, so acoustic output is negligible. Blue, amber and green LEDs on each unit indicate power, video and link status.

Questions about this item

Will my existing CAT-5e patch cables reach the 495 ft maximum extension distance?

Yes, the HDBaseT 2.0 link extends DVI, USB, RS-232 and 2-way audio up to 495 ft (150 m) over a single CAT-5e cable.

Which front-panel LEDs confirm the sender and receiver are linked and passing video?

Each unit shows a blue power LED, an amber link LED and a green video LED; all three lit means power, HDBaseT link and active video are present.

Does the box include the 48 V DC locking power supply, or must I order it separately?

The receiver ships with its 48 V DC locking power supply; the sender is powered over the same CAT-5e cable via PoH, so no separate supply is needed for it.
