Rack-mountable passive airflow barrier prevents hot exhaust from entering 1U Cisco 4948 series switches

  • Passive barrier blocks hot server exhaust from switch intake
  • Designed for Cisco 4948 series 1U network switches
  • Rack-mountable 1U form factor fits standard server racks
  • Active fan option available for direct cooled-air supply
  • Purpose-built to extend switch life in rear-mounted deployments

Purpose-Built Switch Cooling

The Geist SwitchAir SA1-01001NBProduct is a 1U rack-mountable airflow cooling system designed for IT environments. It installs directly into standard server racks to manage the thermal conditions of network switches mounted at the rear.

Ideal for Rear-Mounted Switches

This unit suits data centres where switches, load balancers or routers sit at the back of racks and draw in hot exhaust air from servers. It is not for operators who need active fan-assisted cooling or who deploy switches in front-to-back airflow orientations that do not match the passive barrier design.

Passive Barrier Design

The system creates a physical barrier that blocks hot exhaust air from entering switch intakes without using powered fans. Compatibility is specified for Cisco 4948 series 1U switches.

Questions about this item

Does the SwitchAir 1U unit add audible fan noise or extra heat when it runs continuously in a rack?

The passive SwitchAir 1U creates a barrier that blocks hot exhaust air from reaching switch intakes without using fans, so it adds no fan noise and generates no additional heat during all-day operation.

Which specific switch models must already be installed for the SA1-01001NB to fit and function?

The unit is tailor-made for Cisco 4948 series 1U switches mounted in a standard 1U rack space.

Will the SwitchAir 1U interfere with older rack equipment that stays in the same cabinet?

It occupies a single 1U rack slot and simply separates the switch intake from server exhaust, leaving adjacent older hardware unaffected.
