Platinum XP500 Pocket Scale for Jewelers

The GemOro 9776 Platinum XP500 is a digital pocket scale built for jewelers, pawnbrokers and precious-metal dealers who need 500 g capacity with 0.01 g readability. Each unit weighs 0.259 kg and fits in a pocket or on a countertop, making it practical for workshop benches or mobile buying trips. This 12-pack supplies a consistent tool across multiple workstations or staff members. Buyers who require higher capacity or finer resolution than 0.01 g will need a different instrument.

Thermals Noise and Power in Normal Use

The scale runs on alkaline batteries and uses an auto shut-off function to preserve power during idle periods, so there is no continuous electrical draw or cooling requirement. No fan or active thermal management is present, meaning operation is silent and heat output is negligible in a typical jewelry workspace. Power consumption is limited to the brief moments when a measurement is taken and the blue backlit LCD is active. Environments without easy battery replacement should plan for spares.

Bundled Accessories and Software Impact

The package includes twelve identical Platinum XP500 scales and a one-year parts and labour warranty plus a five-year limited replacement warranty from the manufacturer. The multi-unit bundle simplifies fleet deployment but adds no extra functionality beyond having more scales available.

Questions about this item

How do I install the GemOro 9776 Platinum XP500 and what step do people often miss?

Insert the required alkaline batteries, place the scale on a stable level surface, press the power button, then press the calibration button and apply a 500 g calibration weight — the weight is not included and skipping this step gives inaccurate readings

What maintenance or replacement will the 12-pack of scales need later?

Replace the alkaline batteries when the display dims or the auto shut-off triggers too quickly; the stainless steel platform only needs occasional wiping with a soft cloth and the push-button digital calibration should be repeated whenever accuracy drifts

What limit appears first during sustained use of the XP500?

The 500 g maximum capacity is reached before any other constraint; exceeding it overloads the load cell and stops the scale from weighing
