Fire Starter with Whistle

The Gerber Survival Fire Starter 31-003114 combines a ferrocerium rod, metal striker and a 100 decibel emergency whistle in one compact unit. It is designed for campers, hikers and everyday carry users who need reliable ignition and signalling capability. The set attaches to a backpack or keychain for quick access in the field.

Ferrocerium Rod and Striker

The core ignition component is a ferrocerium rod paired with a sturdy metal striker that produces hot sparks in all weather conditions. An IPX4 rated water resistant compartment integrated into the handle stores tinder to keep it dry. This all-weather spark generation is the single feature that determines whether the tool meets your fire starting needs.

All-Weather Operation

The sealed tinder compartment protects dry material from rain and splashes during normal outdoor use. The whistle and striker are secured by a lanyard cord that keeps the parts together and allows attachment to gear. Weighing approximately .1 kilograms, the unit adds minimal load to a pack or keychain.
