Intel LGA 1151 micro-ATX board

The GIGABYTE B360M D3H is a micro-ATX motherboard for Intel Core i7, i5, i3, Pentium and Celeron processors that use the LGA 1151 socket on the 300-series chipset. It provides four DDR4 memory slots, a single full-length PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot and six SATA 6Gb/s ports for storage expansion.

DDR4 2666 needs 8th-gen Core i7 or i5

Memory runs at 2666, 2400 or 2133 MHz, but 2666 MHz and XMP profiles only activate when an 8th-generation Core i7 or i5 CPU is installed. With other supported processors the maximum memory speed drops to 2400 MHz, and the board caps total capacity at 64 GB across four 288-pin slots in dual-channel mode.

Straightforward install, check CPU generation first

The board fits standard micro-ATX cases and uses common 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors. The main pitfall is pairing a non-8th-generation processor with 2666 MHz RAM, which forces the memory to run slower. Integrated graphics need a D-Sub, DVI-D or DisplayPort 1.2 cable; the DVI-D port does not accept a D-Sub adapter.

Questions about this item

Will this board run DDR4-2666 memory at full speed with a Core i3 or Pentium processor?

No. The 2666 MHz and XMP profiles require an 8th Generation Core i7 or i5 CPU; with a Core i3, Pentium or Celeron the memory will operate at 2400 MHz or 2133 MHz.

Can I use the M.2 slot for a SATA SSD as well as a PCIe drive?

Yes. The M key socket accepts 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 modules and supports both SATA and PCIe x4 or x2 signalling.

What display outputs are available if I rely on integrated graphics?

The board provides one D-Sub, one DVI-D and one DisplayPort 1.2 connector; D-Sub and DVI-D each support up to 1920x1200 at 60 Hz while DisplayPort reaches 4096x2304 at 60 Hz.
