A 1U barebone server with four hot-swappable NVMe, SATA and SAS bays, sixteen DDR5 DIMM slots and two full-height PCIe Gen5 x16 expansion slots
The GIGABYTE R163-S30-AAB1 is a 1U rackmount barebone built around a single 5th/4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor or Xeon CPU Max Series. It targets compute-dense deployments that need local NVMe, SATA or SAS storage and up to sixteen DDR5 RDIMM slots. The platform suits virtualization hosts, storage nodes and HPC front-ends where density and I/O flexibility matter.
Dual ROM architecture provides firmware redundancy for continuous operation during updates or recovery. Two full-height half-length PCIe Gen5 x16 slots allow high-bandwidth accelerators or networking cards to run at full speed without throttling. A single 1 Gb/s LAN port via Intel I210-AT handles baseline management traffic while the PCIe slots carry the heavy data-plane load.
Eight-channel DDR5 with sixteen DIMM slots sets the hard limit on memory footprint and bandwidth for this chassis. Workloads that exceed this capacity must move to a dual-socket or larger form-factor platform. The four hot-swappable 3.5/2.5-inch bays supporting Gen4 NVMe, SATA and SAS complete the local storage ceiling.

The barebone supports a single 5th or 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processor or Xeon CPU Max Series; actual power draw depends on the specific CPU installed.
You must provide a compatible Xeon processor, DDR5 RDIMM modules for up to 16 slots, storage drives for the four 3.5 or 2.5-inch hot-swap bays, and an M.2 module if desired.
Yes, each bay accepts Gen4 NVMe, SATA or SAS drives, so older SATA and SAS drives are compatible with the hot-swap carriers.
