Supports 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper with quad-channel DDR4 up to 256 GB, 16+3 phase 70 A VRM, four PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, dual Intel 1 GbE LAN, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and 120 dB audio
The GIGABYTE TRX40 DESIGNARE targets professionals building high-core-count workstations around 3rd Generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. The sTRX4 socket and AMD TRX40 chipset deliver quad-channel memory bandwidth and extensive PCIe 4.0 connectivity for rendering, simulation and multi-GPU compute workloads. Eight DDR4 DIMM slots support up to 256 GB of ECC or non-ECC unbuffered memory.
Memory operates at JEDEC speeds up to 3200 MHz with a long list of validated overclocked frequencies reaching 4400 MHz. Four PCIe 4.0 x16 slots provide two at x16 and two at x8 electrical, while a single x1 slot and eight SATA 6 Gb/s ports handle additional expansion. Four M.2 sockets — two CPU-attached and two chipset-attached — accept 2260, 2280 and 22110 drives with PCIe 4.0 x4 or SATA signalling.
Builders moving from TRX40's predecessor gain PCIe 4.0 across CPU and chipset lanes, dual 1 GbE Intel LAN with cFosSpeed traffic shaping and onboard Intel WiFi 6 plus BLUETOOTH 5.0. The 16+3 phase Infineon digital VRM with 70 A power stages and triple thermal protection including 8 mm heatpipe sustains heavy all-core loads. A bundled 40 Gb/s GC-Titan Ridge add-in card and exclusive AORUS Gen4 AIC adaptor add four more NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 slots for storage scaling.

The board runs quad-channel memory across eight slots and supports up to 256 GB total. Populating all eight slots gives maximum capacity and bandwidth, while four matched modules still provide full quad-channel performance with less electrical load on the memory controller.
The 16+3 phase Infineon digital VRM with 70 A power stages delivers stable current to high-core-count Threadripper processors, helping maintain boost clocks during sustained multi-threaded workloads without thermal throttling.
The CPU provides two M.2 sockets and the chipset adds two more, each wired for PCIe 4.0 x4, so four NVMe SSDs can operate at full Gen 4 speed concurrently.
