USB Over Cat6 Extender Pair

The GINTOOYUN USB Over Cat6 Adapter ships as two pairs of USB Type A to RJ45 converters. Each unit links a USB host to a standard Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6e Ethernet cable for device extension. The compact black housings measure 3.6068 cm by 8.4074 cm by 11.5062 cm and suit cameras, printers, keyboards, mice and similar USB peripherals. Compatibility spans Windows 98 through Windows 10 and Mac OS 8.6 or higher.

Sustained Link Behaviour

The adapter pair maintains a continuous USB connection over the Ethernet cable without requiring external power. Signal integrity holds across the full cable run for typical peripheral traffic such as keyboard input, mouse movement, printer spooling and camera streaming. No driver installation is needed on supported operating systems, so the link remains stable through reboots and sleep cycles.

Thermal Noise and Power Profile

Passive circuitry produces no audible noise and generates negligible heat during normal operation. The units draw power directly from the host USB port, adding minimal load to the system power budget. Plastic construction stays cool to the touch even after extended use, and the lightweight design avoids strain on the connected cable or port.

Questions about this item

Does the adapter draw extra power or get warm during continuous all-day use?

The adapter is a passive plastic unit with no external power supply, so it adds no measurable heat or power draw while running all day.

What must I already own to use this pair with my keyboard and mouse?

You need a standard USB Type A keyboard and mouse, plus a Cat 5, 5e, 6 or 6e patch cable to link the two RJ45 female ports.

Will my older USB 1.1 webcam work through this adapter on a Windows 98 machine?

The adapter supports Win 98 and later, so a USB 1.1 webcam will pass through the Cat 5 or Cat 6 cable without driver changes.
